Ohio Marriage License Requirements

Both parties must go together to apply for the marriage license.
Residency Requirement:
You do not need to be a resident of Ohio. You must apply in the county that your marriage will take place.
ID Requirement:
Government issued ID such as Drivers License, State ID, Passport.
If the address is not current on your ID, additional proof of residency will be required.
Applicants under 21 years of age will also need to bring an original or certified copy of their birth certificate.
Your Social Security Card will be required
Under 18:
If the applicant is 16 or 17, consent from the parents or legal guardians is required. Marriage counseling may also be required.
Waiting Period:
There is no waiting period in the state of Ohio. However it is recomended that you apply for your marriage license 30 days prior to your wedding date. Marriage licenses expire after 60 days.
Previous Marriages:
If you were previously married you must bring a certified copy of the divorce decree or a copy of the deceased spouse's death certificate.
Fees:
Fees typically range between $45 - $50. Bring Cash. Most courthouses will not accept checks or credit cards.
